Quote of the day: Margaret, are you grieving
Over Goldengrove unleaving?
(Spring and Fall, to a young child, Gerard Manley Hopkins)

What a difference a week makes. And yet, not really.

We're still in that nail-biting countdown--will class make its quota? And if not, will we be able to convince the powers that be to allow us, the chosen few, to transfer to Fabrication so to continue our work? Miss H--- was supposedly going to sign up for class again. I told Pat that I had no problem with that, as long as Miss H--- actually paid for class. I left off the bit about as long as I didn't have to speak to her, etc.

And no doubt I will be pulling my hair out again, trying to get some sort of response from the Gainesville Sketchers about where to meet next, for any suggestions about where to meet...ever. For any response to any ideas I put forth. I will continue to schedule Mondays (and the occasional Sunday) for a while yet. I still get a lot from getting together. I've filled two and a half sketchbooks. I hope to finish this third one before the month is out, so I need to get cracking. I'm afraid if I let the Sketchers softly and silently vanish away, that I will softly and silently stop sketching. It's a habit, but it's not firmly ingrained as yet. My work has improved but I can still get easily discouraged. I need to bolster myself. So I will continue to swim against the tide of sketching apathy and soldier on.

Lawn work still need to get done.

Laundry still piles up.

Plump cats still insist that they haven't eaten, anything, ever, in at least five or six years and they're hungry now!

The dog still has to play Fribbee!!! right away forever.

Returning UF students will be, well, returning UF students. O the humanity! And Gator football season will be starting soon. Death to Sobek!

And Pat, Sandi and I (with the unlikely addition of Karen), will not be making a trip to Winter Park and the greater Orlando metroplex. Not this week. Pat got word from her sister that their mother was in the ER with a possible bowel obstruction. Sandi saw Pat later (on the weekend?) and "Mom is dying." I'm not so close to Pat that an email or phone call would be anything other than an unwanted intrusion. I suspect that Pat is still in Tally, even if her mother has already died. Were she in town, Sandi and I (with the possible addition of Karen) could work to distract her, comfort her, take her out to dinner/lunch, go shopping for her. Something.
