This and that
Jan. 5th, 2008 03:54 pm Class starts this Wednesday--picture me wreathed with big smiles and sighing big happy sighs. Life is good.
Monday is the Herb Society meeting. I will probably drive down to it and play with the other crazies. I've skipped a bunch of meetings in the last few months. And I do enjoy them.
It feels practically tropical outside right now. It's about 70 degrees. It feels good. So of course I picked up plants. I found a lovely large Lady Plymouth and picked up something called a Candy Dancer. It's another scented geranium, a fruity lemon I believe the tag says. I picked up several different rosemaries (hmm how does one form that plural, I've never thought about it) because well they're rosemaries. And another rose bush, a Perle d'or. Sounds like a good one and it's supposed to be fragrant. I need to have a serious rose bush planting day in awhile. Probably really shouldn't do it until we're past the danger of frost. Not that I expect a frost to kill them but if they are newly planted they would put out tender new leaves and they're more susceptible to frost. Before I do anything though I need to get some amdro or the equivalent and get rid of at least one mound. I plan to put some stuff near the mailbox and that's exactly where the mound is.
The Fairy Princess and I went to Petco and hit the cookie bar. I filled up a good sized bag of treats. She got admired and fussed over. We had fun. I had wanted to go into Bed, Bath and Beyond and the Borders in the same shopping centre but decided it might be a little warm for Breck whilst she waited for me. As a last minute thing, I drove over to CFOP and discovered them closed. If I had puzzled things out in time, I would have hit CFOP first and then Petco. Alas. Perhaps tomorrow. I did want to see if they had gotten in any more copper. I would probably do well to buy my copper elsewhere. I'd probably be able to save money, even factoring in shipping charges.
Poor Arizona, she's a bit of a hard luck cat. She came over to visit me yesterday. I wondered at the red thing draped over her back. It made no sense to me. I put my hand out to touch it. Ah, where the sight of it made no sense, the first touch of my fingers to it brought a mini-satori. Very mini. Ah yes! The fribbee. This is the second time I have scored a ringer on poor Arizona. Moti and Miracle are both such slender kitties that even if such a thing should occur, they could simply step through the frib. PyePye is less trusting of things flying through the air, especially things that the dog plays with and that are covered with copious amounts of dog spittle. She probably ducks better. And Arizona just hangs out, taking a pull on her hookah and saying "wow, man, the colors." It's a good thing that she has such an easy nature. She didn't come to me immediately after being "caught" but came seeking me out soon enough. And not at all distressed. PyePye would probably still be locked in a closet somewhere loading and reloading her arsenal.
PyePye, on the other hand, and just the other day, has decided that sitting on my shoulders is the place to be. I wouldn't mind this but she's a heavy girl, about fourteen pounds and that begins to tell on me soon enough.
And I'm sorry but the "refreshed" mood hamster is scary.
