In that small cafe, the park across the way (madness never sleeps--beware of plique a jour)

Quote of the day: I'll be seeing you, in every lovely summer's day, in everything that's light and gay, I'll always think of you that way. I'll find you in the morning sun and when the night is new, I'll be looking at the moon, but I'll be seeing you. (I'll Be Seeing You, Irving Kahal)

It's been a long week and I'm tired. I feel like I should post something but don't want to write. Arrgh. Or perhaps it's that I don't want to think.

I had an idea for a peacock carousel animal. Okay, that's not exactly correct. I had toyed with the idea but suddenly realized that I wouldn't have to fabricate the whole thing. I could carve the body in wax and cast it in fine silver. Fine silver is a tad problematic but not a whole lot. It lacks the strength of sterling but if I wanted to ename the body, well, depletion gilding sterling doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense, as I would lose detail. So fine silver it is. The tail, I could go either way. (And if I wanted to be really insane, and believe me, I'll mention it to Pat, it's fun to watch the steam come out of her ears, I could do the tail in plique-a-jour. Sigh, wipes tears from eyes. I've got to make my own fun, you know.) But in a sane universe, which I generally inhabit, I'll choose fabrication. Copper is cheaper than silver and I could use foil in areas if I wanted to use transparents. Silver, fine silver, would fit with the body more easily.

But when the morning chimes ring sweet again... )
