In the mood to write something, anything, but don't know what. Still don't know if there will be class. Don't know if I checked on Friday or not. It's a fidgety, annoying, boring sort of time. Will there be class? Won't there be class?
On a side note, Dietrich Dohrmann's class is supposed to be on Tuesdays this term. If they (1) didn't screw up putting the info together and it's really on Wednesdays and (2) his class makes its quota. Arrgh! Arrgh! Arrgh! I have great hopes though that he would be able to teach me something about raising. And probably a bunch of other very interesting things. I wonder if he studied at Pforzheim (sp)?
Hmmmm, what else? Washed the dog. Barry and his friend, whatever her name is, came out onto the street, with the woman's damned Newfie. Not on a leash, and not under good voice control. At least Breck was on a leash. I think she forgot to hate getting bathed for a few minutes. I broke out the Dawn. We'll give that a try and see how well it works. She's lost hair, but not as badly as last summer. I've managed to keep up with the Advantage this summer, though. I wish it worked as well as it used to.
On another side note, Pat thought my grisaille experimentation piece was, well, first she thought it was a bunny, then she thought, no, it's a geisha. I told her--it's a jackalope.
Ummmmm.
Okay.
But she got my evil mind to working. And now I'm determined to make an enamel of a geishalope. Originally, I thought I would do it as grisaille but as I've been writing this, I realize that's the wrong way to approach the project. I need to study Japanese woodprints and such, get a handle on style and color, and try to come close to that. Oooooh, a combination of champleve and bas taille would be nice. On silver. Or at least on silver foil. It would be cheaper that way. Now I can't remember if champleve should be one word or two. Arrgh.
I wonder if she'll find geishalope or jackapelli more unsettling? Only time will tell.
Oh my god. I spot a nefarious plot to keep me from my plans for world domination or at least the unleashing of the jackapellis upon an unsuspecting populace. I must play it calm, cool, collected. I must not betray my plans too early. Or they will never let me back in class.
Jackapelli. Jackapelli. Jackapelli.
Oh my but it's an exciting word.
I need to dig up all my old sketchbooks to find all my old art for The Jackalope at Home and the Jackapelli series. I need to study modified Rembrandt or perhaps straight Rembrandt. I need to think long and hard about the images I want to include in the Jackapelli series. Now add to that--the Geishalope.
I wonder if they'll Baker Act me?
My sketchers piss me off. I send out emails. I hear nothing. Do they want me to reign over them with an iron fist? Is so, I'm for it. Hell, I'm a capricorn.
I'm toying with going back to the museums this weekend. Maybe both of them, first "art" and then Natural History. Why was I going to go back to the Natural History museum? I don't remember. I did want to draw that pillar thing again, I should look at the label on it. I thought I really should have drawn the various components. I could have gotten more detail into the bits if I could have drawn them bigger. I want to try that vase thing again. I feel like I have too much contrast in the values but maybe I'm just being timid. I should have drawn that one larger as well.
They're evil there, of course. They sell butterfly plants. So I bought some. A tropical milkweed, a "hotlips" salvia (because I don't have enough salvias in my yard), a um mumble mumble something and a golden dewdrop. The name so makes sense because the flowers are purply and the leaves are a straight green non-variegated sort. So obviously the plant just screamed Golden Dewdrop. Who knows, maybe Purply Flowered Straight Green Non-Variegated was already taken.
We might have a high of only 89 today. O frabjous day! We should eat cupcakes and throw confetti!
