Quote of the day: The grasshopper's horn, and far off, high in the maples
The wheel of a locust slowly grinding the silence,
Under a moon waning and warn and broken,
Tired with summer. (Indian Summer, Sara Teasdale)

Our most visible resident loony called off his Koran burning. But may be reconsidering because he's been "lied to" about the proposed New York City mosque. Sandi says she's thinking of visiting her parents because she doesn't want to be in town when things start blowing up, will probably take the Star of David from her window.

We were a Pat-free zone yesterday. She had gotten a call from hospice regarding her mother, that she needed to get there soon to say her goodbyes. Funny thing that, only the week before the doctor had said her mother was not in need of hospice yet. Poor Pat. Poor Pat.

My favorite Squeaka-Kitty set the lid down on this laptop with a definite snap the other day and now the display is wider than it should be. It's driving me nuts. I've seen it like this before and it has snapped back to normal. But there's nothing I can do to change it. Arrgh arrgh arrgh. Thing is, the snap was definite but not overly so. Arrgh.

My favorite Arizona Kitty caught a lizard. O frabjous day! And of course, she comes running to her mommy to share in the joy. O frabjous frabjous day! The lizard was nonplussed but definitely alive, looking around and no worse for the wear. Having her drop a live lizard on me would have been less distressing than having her drop a mouse (the only other thing she's ever caught) but still. Ewwwww! Ewwww! I started warning her off. She didn't want to get warned because, really, it was a precious thing. But I warned and wiggled and waved my hands and she managed to oops drop the wonderous precious thing and o lost lizard lost lizard. Why couldn't she have just found a craft pompom to bring me. Less wondrous perhaps but I would have played with her quite happily.

I worked some on the enameling stuff last night. Still don't know why the cartoon didn't work and then did. I need to get a whole bunch of enameled blanks set up for playing with. We still don't have any pickle made up, I suppose I could have looked through stuff and tried to figure stuff out but I didn't. So that held me back some. I fired stuff, but couldn't pickle anything afterwards.

I didn't realize how spoiled I'd become in the other "studio" over the summer. I set down my grisaille piece to apply more enamel--whoa, now that's not going to work, the table's too high. No problem, fall back and punt, use one of the stools, no, wait, now that's too low. I felt like Goldilocks. I have a feeling I'm going to want something to use something (a box? toolcase?) as a sort of booster seat for the pieces I work on, at least when I'm using the optivisor. I have a feeling that will be quite frequently.

Sandi is making appropriate noises about maybe ordering something from Thompsons. I need to get some whites, in 80 mesh, the school's supply is pathetic and I need them to continue working. But it would be such a small order and I hate to make those.

One of my screen names might be sending out spam. I've changed the password on it. And isn't that annoying. I go to type in the old password, and my fingers are so used to that rhythm, oops, oh, yeah, I typed the new. And kept fumbling and retyping. I hope the change helps the problem.

Mike was the only Sketcher on Monday. He proceeded to tell me that this laptop is too big (okay he didn't actually say too big but the trend is...). And he quizzed me, is it your only computer? And people will be using phones and

Who freakin' cares? I didn't know I had to run this purchase by him and get his okay. I didn't know I had to follow the trends and the crowds and he should hold a seance and get in touch with the old man and tell him I'm still too independent and still think I'm better than other people and can't go along with everybody else.

Pissant.

But I'm not bitter.
